The Latest in Wood Technology

As with other pressure-treated lumber products, the preservative used to treat ProWood Micro CA contains copper and quaternary compounds that protect against termite attack and decay. But with ProWood Micro CA, the copper is micronized to provide revolutionary new benefits: less corrosive and compatible with aluminum. Unlike other copper-based wood preservatives, the preservative in ProWood Micro CA products does not use solvents to dissolve the copper in solution. Instead, it uses micronizing technology (patent pending) to grind copper particles so small they can penetrate into the wood in solid form.

EPP Certified

The process used to treat ProWood Micro CA is the first to gain Environmentally Preferable Product (EPP) status as certified by Scientific Certification Systems (SCS). Scientific Certification Systems is a third-party certification services and standards development company. According to the EPA, to be EPP certified means that the product has a reduced impact on human health and the environment when compared to other products that serve the same purpose.

GREENGUARD Children & Schools Certified

The MicroPro technology in ProWood Micro CA has been awarded the GREENGUARD Children & Schools Certification. GREENGUARD Children & Schools (SM) Certification program certifies products for low chemical emissions that are used in schools, offices and other sensitive environments.

NAHB Research Center National Green Building Certification

ProWood Micro uses MicroPro wood preservative technology from Osmose, Inc. MicroPro earned Green Approved Product certification from the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) Research Center under the National Green Building Standardâ„¢ Program. By using ProWood Micro products, architects, specifiers, homebuilders and contractors are eligible to receive points toward a building being certified under the National Green Building Standard.

Tested. Proven. Reliable.

A comprehensive scientific review paper on micronized copper wood preservative systems was recently published as the feature story in the November 2008 issue of the Forest Products Journal. Laboratory and field studies demonstrate that micronized copper treated wood products such as ProWood Micro provide protection against fungal decay and termites in both above ground and ground contact applications.

More Natural Look

ProWood Micro CA have a lighter, more natural wood appearance when compared to other types of copper-based treated products.

Stays Looking Good, Longer

After one year of outdoor exposure, ProWood Micro CA have an even more natural look than cedar or redwood.

Less Corrosive

ProWood Micro CA is less corrosive to fasteners, exhibiting corrosion rates similar to CCA-treated wood and untreated wood. Two studies conducted by Timber Products Inspection Agency and two additional studies by the State University of New York concluded that wood treated with micronized copper is less corrosive than wood treated with soluble copper based wood preservatives.

Compatible with Aluminum

ProWood Micro CA can be placed in direct contact with aluminum building products.

Water Repellant

ProWood Micro CA with Water Repellant provides the same protection against fungal decay and termites as regular ProWood Micro CA, plus added long-term protection against weathering.

Less Expensive to Use

Because ProWood Micro CA are less corrosive, they don't require expensive fasteners. Any standard, hot-dip galvanized fastener will do. Use fasteners as recommended by building codes.

Building-Code-Approved

ProWood Micro CA have been evaluated by the ICC-ES to be code compliant with the details listed under the ESR-1980 Report and the ESR-2240 Report.

Variety of End Uses

End uses include interior and exterior above ground, ground contact and fresh water immersion.

MicroShades

ProWood Micro with MicroShades is a commercially available red-brown wood colorant that uses an in-solution pigment system to create the resemblance of redwood.

Lasts a Lifetime

Like all of our pressure-treated wood products, ProWood Micro CA carry the best residential limited warranties in the industry against structural damage caused by termites or fungal decay.

Clean and Safe

ProWood Micro CA are clean, odorless, and non-irritating to humans, animals and plants. When handled correctly, it’s safe—for us and the environment.
