Arizona Pine

Handling and Installation

Arizona Pine products are kiln-dried to minimize swelling, shrinkage, and warping. Their reduced moisture content makes them lighter in weight and thus easy to handle. As with all lumber products, however, they must be handled with care. To ensure the best results for your project, we recommend the following steps:

Handling and Installation Steps:

  1. Precondition (acclimate) the wood material for ten (10) days to two weeks by storing it in the room where it will be installed.
  2. Prior to installation (and after pre-conditioning), prime or pre-finish all sides, edges, and ends to reduce the appearance of unfinished lines, which may result from shrinkage following installation.
  3. Apply the wood by nailing at least 1-1/2” directly into the wood or other “nailable” substrate. Use stainless, high-tensile aluminum or hot-dip, galvanized, 6d finishing nails for interior applications; use 8d for exterior.
  4. For 1” x 6” materials, fasten as shown to conceal nails.
  5. For 1” x 8” materials, also use face nailing.
