Engineered Wood Products
Open Joist™
Open Joist is an engineered, open-web floor truss made without metal fasteners. Wide nailing flanges and open webs allow for concealed installation of electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems. Available in a variety of depths, Open Joist offers superior strength and load-carrying capability.
Custom Pin-Connected Roof Trusses
Universal’s pin-trusses are commonly installed in restaurant, retail and commercial structures and are ideal for both floor and roof construction. These structural open-web trusses are lightweight and are capable of spanning long distances. The open-web design allows for easy access for mechanical and electrical trades.
Easy Riser®
The Easy Riser Stair Stringer System is an engineered stair-building solution that attaches to a standard 2' x 6' stringer. There's no notching, and no waste. Engineered for extra strength, Easy Riser stairs install in minutes. This cost-effective tool adjusts to any tread or riser measurements.
Finger-jointed Studs
To make the most of every piece of wood, Universal offers finger-jointed studs, which are made by bonding shorter sections of lumber into longer lumber using structural, water-resistant adhesives. The use of shorter segments reduces warping and adds strength. Made for vertical use only, the studs are interchangeable with unjointed studs.
LVL
Universal's laminated-veneer lumber (LVL) is the builder's preferred choice for headers, beams, rimboard, and edge-forming material. Layers of lumber are laminated together to create a stronger, straighter, and more uniform board than typical sawn lumber. LVL handles like common lumber but won't warp, twist, bow, or shrink.
