Main steps for installing an EverIron® Ornamental Polymer Fence:
  1. Check local building codes and obtain the necessary permits for decorative fences, and consult with utilities to make sure you will not dig into underground lines when installing fence posts.
  2. Obtain the components, materials, and tools needed as described in the Project Shopping List.
  3. Lay out the fence post locations and mark them. Decide on the clearance under your fence.
  4. Install fence posts. For in-ground posts: Dig post holes to the depth required by your local building codes. Use gravel, concrete, and dirt to firmly set the posts. For posts on concrete slabs: Drill holes for concrete anchor bolts and bolt the post mount brackets to the concrete. Slide the posts onto the bracket, tap down, slide on the base trim, and insert a length of 4x4.
  5. Allow concrete to set at least 48 hours then trim tops of posts to be level and the right height for the bottom clearance you desire.
  6. Prepare posts for installation of fence panels. Use string and levels to mark the posts to ensure a level installation. Shorten the length of the fence panels with a saw if needed and attach Fence Panel Supports along the bottom of the fence. Slide Rail Brackets onto the fence panels.
  7. Install fence panels. Align a panel with the string on the posts. Drill holes in the posts at the appropriate height and screw the brackets to the post.
  8. Attach the Post Caps.
  9. For gates, decide which way you want the gate to swing. Screw the hinges to the gate, using the backer plate for extra strength. Align the gate with the gatepost and screw the hinges to the post.
  10. Attach the gate latch and gate stop components to the gate and gateposts.
