Engineered Framing Components
As a complement to our comprehensive framing services, Universal produces the full range of framing components for all types of building projects. From roofs to walls to floors, we provide our builder clients with the right value-engineered framing product at the right price. Universal warrants and represents to the customer that its labor shall be warranted against defects for a period of one year.
Roof Trusses
Universal is the largest roof truss manufacturer in the United States. That means that we combine national buying power with efficient production. We design and engineer our roof trusses using state-of-the-art 3D modeling software, so we can find fit and elevation problems and solve them on the front end—before they become field problems and change orders for you.
Floor Trusses and Joists
Universal manufactures a variety of floor joist systems, including standard plated floor trusses, I-Joists, and Open Joist. Combine all three into a cost-effective floor system—use open-web where you need it, and solid sawn or I-Joist where you don’t.
Plated Floor Trusses
Universal’s open-web plated floor trusses are engineered to carry
heavy loads and to span long distances.
I-joists
I-joists are engineered floor joists that are straighter and more
consistent in quality than dimensional lumber.
Open Joist™
Open Joist is an all-wood, engineered floor truss assembled with
finger-joinery and structural glue. With an open-web design like our
plated floor truss, Open Joist easily conceals mechanical systems,
often at a lower cost. It can be used as either a truss or a joist.
Pre-fabricated Wall Panels
Universal’s pre-fabricated wall panels install faster than site-built walls, with less waste to haul away. And faster framing means that your sales close sooner. Our wall panels are made from 2' x 4' or 2' x 6' materials in our weather-controlled environment. We use Virtek laser technology on the shop floor so that we can see a finished diagram of each wall, along with all dimensions and cuts as we build the wall. The panels are built to your specifications every time. We generate wall-panel profiles using advanced 3D modeling so that we can find plan or dimensional problems and devise solutions on the front end. The panels are clearly marked for installation with detailed descriptions.
