Latitudes® Natural & Ornamental Railing Systems Testing Summary
The structural performance of Latitudes Natural and Ornamental Composite Railing systems has been evaluated by professional engineers at an independent, third-party test laboratory. The results demonstrate Latitudes Natural and Ornamental Railing systems, assembled with a 1/4” x 1-1/2” aluminum (AL 6061-T651) insert equal to the length of the upper rail and installed according to the manufacturer’s installation instructions, with up to a 72” clear span between support posts, comply with ICC-ES AC174-06, section 5.1* for use as a guardrail system. Latitudes Ornamental Railing assembled with 2x4 rails requires a cap rail using either a 2x4 with an aluminum insert or a composite deck board, which does not require the use of an aluminum insert.
* Third-party testing did not include special loading requirements for the Standard Building Code (SBC).
Complies with the following codes and standards:
IBC-2000—International Building Code
IBC-2003—International Building Code
BOCA-1999—Building Officials and Code Administrators (Reference ASCE 7-95)
IRC-2003—International Residential Code
UBC-1997—Uniform Building Code
Latitudes Ornamental Railing using glass balusters is a decorative railing and can only be used in those applications where a structural railing is not required by building codes.
