Choosing the Right Pallet

Universal offers pallets in all categories, styles, designs, constructions, and wood species. We know that a well-designed pallet can reduce the rate of damage to your products and increase your material handling efficiency. Pallets are often improperly built to carry particular loads or to attain appropriate stacking levels. Moreover, you can waste money over packaging your products if you don't use the right pallets.

That's why we work with our customers to choose the right pallet design for their unique product or use. Pallet specifications should consider the product, its configuration, and its packaging type. Universal can help you select the right pallet size, grade, and wood based on your shipping, loading, and storage requirements. Using PDS, we can design your pallet to accommodate any automated equipment requirements.

To help our customers choose the right pallet, Universal first works with them to answer some basic questions:

  • What kinds of loads do you typically move?
  • Which pallet size fits your unit loads?
  • Do you stack unit loads?
  • What are the dimensions of your rack or other support system?
  • How many times do you plan to use your pallet?
  • Will pallet deflection interfere with your materials handling equipment?
