Solar post cap lights offer both function and beauty
The First Lighted Post Cap from the Industry Leader in Decorative Post Caps Now Available
BAINBRIDGE ISLAND, WASHINGTON – May 11, 2006 – Maine Ornamental, LLC, the building industry’s largest supplier of decorative post caps, for fences, decks and outdoor areas, has introduced a series of new post caps with an illuminating feature: a wireless, sun-powered light for marking entries or accenting exteriors.
The first series of Solar Post Cap Lights was introduced this spring. It is available in a choice of four metal finishes, including copper, stainless, pewter, and black.
Each post cap rests above an attractive silhouette light made of shatter resistant plastic. The base of the cap is available in a choice of woods, including pressure treated pine, mahogany, redwood, cedar, and ipe.
The light itself requires no wiring or electricity and its glow is perfect for casting a relaxing ambiance over outdoor living areas. The post cap comes with two rechargeable AA batteries. The solar lens is designed to absorb enough sunlight to illuminate the light in the dark. The lights become fully charged after just one day in the sun.
According to Rick Preble, president of Maine Ornamental, the company manufactures more than 230 different post caps, but these are the first to include solar lighting. He says more lighted styles are planned for future introductions.
“This is a new and exciting product for us because of the lighting aspect. As the industry leader in post caps, we needed to ensure that we found the right mix of attractive design, sturdy construction and reliable lighting. This post cap brings all the elements together. It looks great, it features a long-lasting LED bulb, and it’s incredibly functional,” Preble says.
Lowes Home Improvement Stores nationwide are the first to offer the solar post caps under the Maine Ornamental brand. They retail for approximately $24.99 each. The stores stock the copper caps, which are available in both a 4” x 4” and 6” x 6” size. Stainless, Pewter and Black Solar Post Cap Lights are available in the 4” x 4” size through Lowes Special Order Department.
“We put a lot of attention into the quality of the craftsmanship on all our post caps, and these are top quality lights for fence and deck post finishing. They look great in the day time, and at night they light the way,” Preble says.
