Learn About ProWood

ProWood® is Universal's next generation of pressure-treated lumber. ProWood products have been treated with a waterborne wood preservative system containing copper and biocides that protect against termite attack and fungal decay, just like our other pressure-treated products. But with ProWood, the copper is micronized to make it less corrosive. Thanks to this innovative process, ProWood is compatible with aluminum building products and does not require expensive nails or stainless steel fasteners. Micronized copper-treated wood products such as ProWood also protect against fungal decay and termites in both above-ground and ground-contact applications.

ProWood lumber is clean, odorless, non-staining and non-irritating to humans, animals and plants. The ProWood treatment process is the first to attain Environmentally Preferable Product (EPP) status, as certified by Scientific Certification Systems, a third-party certification services and standards development company. ProWood Micro has also earned NAHB's Green Approved Product certification.

Our talented team of wood preservation experts ensures that every ProWood deck, railing, fencing, and lattice product meets the ProWood standards for corrosion resistance, reduced fading, and low environmental impact.
