RafterDeTTails are all-wood, kiln-dried, laminated, non-structural, decorative rafter tails that are designed to slide onto the cantilevered end of a roof truss. This eliminates the need for running the corbelled member back past the wall into the roof/truss space, as is commonly done with conventional solid-sawn rafter tails. The RafterDeTTail is then fastened to the truss chord using nails or wood screws. Starter boards and roof sheathing can be installed in the conventional manner.
RafterDeTTails are manufactured using custom-laminated wood and are guaranteed not to delaminate. The wood is carefully kiln dried, and all RafterDeTTails are double primed. This virtually eliminates most cracks and splits that are prevalent in solid-sawn timbers.
